Macallan - Decades Collection (4x50cl)

The Decades Collection from The Macallan was a series of four bottlings released with the intention of recreating spirits reminiscent of bygone decades. This set contains the following items;

Macallan - Decades Collection - Twenties

During the 1920s, most Macallan produced was sold to whisky blenders as a "top dressing" single malt for their blended whiskies. The few remaining casks continued to mature their contents for longer, resulting in a whisky that was slightly drier and less toffee sweet than modern day Macallan.

Macallan - Decades Collection - Thirties

During the 1930's with coal in short supply because of increasing industrial activity they returned to drying barley using peat fires. This combined with the scarcity of oak sherry casks due to the Spanish civil war made for a peatier and less spicy Macallan than today.

Macallan - Decades Collection - Forties

Due to World War 2, Macallan would have to re-fill their casks more often than todays standard and with the use of peat, this resulted in a less spicy and peatier whisky.

Macallan - Decades Collection - Fifties

This bottling has been made to replicate the 1950's where Macallan was rich in dried fruit flavour and subtle hints of peat.
